In this day of franchise stores and towns that pretty much look the same from one strip mall to the next, Levin's Shoes & Dry Goods, just like the town, Marengo, retain a distinctive homey and personal air. The owners proudly state, "We emphasize quality, price and service. Customers get individual attention." Levin's even orders merchandise, such as wide width shoes, with particular customers in mind. As the years passed, the store, which originally sold work boots and bib overalls to farmers, diversified into other lines, including flannel shirts, cotton stockings and dresses. Recently there has been an increase in demand for wide width shoes of all styles. Levin's understands the importance of a good-fitting shoe and carries a wide selection of wide width shoes for men, women and children.
